Granfondo Brazil

UCI Gran Fondo Brasil has been organised for the first time in 2023 and is organized in the southern Santa Catarina region in Brasil.

The road races have two distances: a 108km km granfondo distance for all men up to the age of 59 and all women up to the age of 49 years old while the shorter 80km mediofondo distance counts as official qualifier distance for the men above 60 and women above 50.

Both courses share the same roads with the mediofondo making a shortcut halfway.

The course starts with a completely flat first 25km after which the most difficult part of the race appears with a 7.5km climb at 4.3% average in steps with especially the last part towards the top of the plateau a bit steeper, but with a total elevation of 1296m, it remains a classical course for strong riders rather than pure climbers.

Nestled in the Vale do Itajaí region of Santa Catarina, Timbó is a city that harmoniously blends European heritage with Brazilian vitality. Founded by German and Italian immigrants, it retains the architectural charm of half‑timbered houses and the cultural traditions of its settlers, while embracing modern development.
