Gran Fondo 7 Lagos

Gran Fondo Siete Lagos is a new event in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. The event, also known as the Gran Fondo of Patagonia is the first ever event in Argentina in the series and attracts around 3000 participants each year.

On Saturday, a 6km time trial opens the weekend. A short flat time trial with a back and forth loop towards a turning point halfway.

El Gran Fondo 7 Lagos on Sunday connects San Martín de los Andes and Villa La Angostura in Argentina’s Patagonia region. The course spans 110 km along the iconic Route of the Seven Lakes (RN40) , surrounded by breathtaking landscapes of native forests, mountains, and crystal-clear lakes.

Each year, the direction of the race alternates, switching the host and finish city to allow participants to experience the beauty of both destinations. In 2026, the start will be given in San Martin de los Andes to finish in Villa la Angostura.

This event is designed for enthusiasts of sport, adventure, and the great outdoors. Riders traverse a route where seven stunning lakes— Lácar, Machónico, Falkner, Villarino, Espejo, Correntoso, and Nahuel Huapi —lie in harmony, framed by the Lanín and Nahuel Huapi National Parks , which also shelter streams, waterfalls, valleys, and majestic peaks.

The major climb of the day follows directly after the start when the road goes up for 15km at an average gradient of 3.5% towards the highest point on course at 1175m. Two shorter steep climbs are located in the final with a 1.9km @7.2% average 23km before the finish and a 1.2km @ 6.5% average just before entering the last 10km.
